Beyoncé Included Tekno’s ‘Pana’ In Her Global Citizen Festival Set

Yesterday, members of the Beyhive were treated to a fantastic performance from the queen. Beyoncé’s set was expectedly top notch, as she gifted us with a surprise duet with Ed Sheeran, a performance of “Nice” with Pharrell, and a bunch of her most iconic songs.

Much to our surprise, the set also included a brief video interlude featuring images of her and Jay-Z on vacation, accompanied by Tekno’s “Pana”. This is not the first time Beyoncé has included a Nigerian artist in her set, as she paid homage to Fela at Beychella back in April.

Now, after highlighting afrobeat, she’s given a nod to afropop by including one of the genre’s biggest hits. We’re sure everybody in these parts loves “Pana”, and will immediately belt out “Folake gimme love oh” once it’s being played, so we’re not at all surprised by Bey’s choice.

Hopefully, this strikes up a relationship between Beyoncé and the super talented Tekno. We’re not sure what it will amount to, but all we know is that everybody’s career soars astronomically once Beyoncé touches them — just look at Cardi B and Chance The Rapper.
