Is Blade Runner 2049 A Movie To See

Published

The blockbuster sequel Blade Runner 2049 has performed badly at the box office despite rave reviews.

Critics have hailed Harrison Ford’s performance as Rick Deckard, lavished praise on director Denis Villeneuve’s moody visuals and suggested that Ryan Gosling more than commands the film’s 169-minute length. And Jared Leto’s performance as a blind robot manufacturer wasn’t even met with scorn. But Blade Runner 2049 has only made $86.5m (£65.4m) in its first week at the global box office, with a $150m production budget.

But the film’s poor performance at the box office should not overshadow what an artistic triumph this film is, says Caryn James in a video review of Blade Runner 2049.
