Akon Launches First Black-Owned Solar Energy Company
American-Senegalese singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor, Akon has launched the first Black-owned solar energy company.
Akon has been known in the hip hop world for long now, and so is he a businessman who has been creating a positive impact in his environment and across boards.
While he has decided to pump the brakes on his music career, he’s been busy with other ventures including fashion, philanthropy and of course music.
He also invested in cryptocurrency and his solar energy efforts recently launched in United States back in 2018 as reported by HipHopWorld.
Akon and his team launched Akon Lighting America, becoming the first black-owned solar energy company in the United States.
Akon Lighting Africa has been in existence since 2014, helping to provide solar energy in various communities throughout the continent.
