British Singer Adele has been accused of cultural appropriation over her Notting Hill Carnival outfit and hairstyle.

Cultural appropriation is the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of an element or elements of one culture or identity by members of another culture or identity.

The 32-year-old Grammy winner shared a photo on Sunday as a tribute to London‘s annual Notting Hill Carnival, which was held online this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Adele, who lamented missing the annual carnival, posted a photo of herself on Instagram and captioned it; “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London”.

In the photo, the ‘Hello’ singer showed off her incredible weight loss in a bikini bearing the Jamaican flag and Bantu knots, a traditional African hairstyle, as well as acid-wash leggings and a yellow feathered headdress.
