Buhari Will Alleviate Poverty, Aisha Assures Nigerians

Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has assured Nigerians that her husband would alleviate poverty by closing the gap between the rich and the poor.

Mrs Buhari said the President will use his second term to consolidate his previous campaign promises of securing the nation, growing the economy and fighting corruption.

She said this on Saturday during a dinner organized by her at the State House Conference Center in Abuja, to celebrate the president’s victory.

Mrs Buhari also thanked the women and youths for their support throughout the election period.

“I wish I can invite all the 15 million Nigerians that voted for Mr President to this dinner, but no place can accommodate you all. So, let me say thank you and assure you that you made the right choice,” she was quoted as saying in a statement signed by her spokesperson, Suleiman Haruna.

“Specifically, I wish to express my appreciation to the women and youth presidential campaign team that I initiated to complement the efforts of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

“As you all know by now, the aim of setting up the team was to get women and youth, who form the majority of the electorate, involved in all the campaign activities across the country,” she said.

Also according to the statement, the President had vowed not to betray the confidence of Nigerians, adding that his victory was a sign that Nigerians were satisfied with the change that his government had embarked upon.

The President also promised to use the next four years to conclude what he had started while explaining that it had taken a long time to reposition the country back to its due course because of the level of abuse done by previous administrations.

He also thanked the women and youths for their role during the campaigns and the election proper and therefore, promised to engage them more in the second tenure.
