Confederation Cup: What Bravo told Us Before Shootout – Vidal
Bayern Munich midfielder, Arturo Vidal has revealed what Manchester City Claudio Bravo told his Chile team-mates before saving all three of Portugal’s penalty kicks in the Confederations Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Bravo was the hero last night, saving all three penalties taken by Portugal and inspired the South American champions into Sunday’s final against whoever wins between Germany and Mexico on Thursday’s second semi-final.
The match was taken to extra-time following a goalless draw at the Kazan Arena, before eventually reaching a penalty shootout.
Bravo denied Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani from the spot.
And midfielder, Vidal has now told ESPN what Bravo told his countrymen before the spot-kicks took place.
“Claudio is extraordinary. He told us before the penalties that he was going to stop two or three.
“We looked from the beginning, this selection, as always, shows that in difficult times the commitment, the heart of Chilean, comes out.”
Chile will now face either Germany or Mexico in the final in Krakow, with the two semi-finalists going head-to-head on Thursday evening.
