Derrick Rose’s Adidas Contract Leaked, Reveals Salaries For Brothers

Derrick Rose was expected to be one of the NBA’s best and brightest. During his career, he has had a string of injuries that have limited his promising contribution as a player. He seems to have been on a decline since winning the 2011 MVP award when he was a player on the Chicago Bulls. Despite this, his deal with Adidas still seems to be flourishing as it has been reported that the sneaker company is still playing not only him a hefty amount of money but also people close to him.

Sports Illustrated obtained a copy of Rose’s 40-page contract with Adidas on Tuesday (February 6) and Jon Wertheim is reporting that the company is paying the point guard an annual retainer of $12 million per season from 2012-2013 through 2016-2017. For this current season, he will be receiving $11 million.

“It also included annual royalties of up to $6.25 million per year, as much as $4.8 million in annual appearance fees and use of a private plane,” according to Wertheim. While crafting his deal, it looks like Rose did not leave out those closest to him. Reggie, his older brother, makes about $250,000 to $300,000 a year from the deal as a consultant. His best friend, Randall, also earns an annual amount between $50,000 and $75,000 for consulting.

The most surprising thing about the contract is that Adidas is still paying Rose as if he is in his prime despite his current NBA status. Clauses were written into his deal that includes deductions if he did not make the All-Star team. Rose has not made the team since 2012.
