Donald Glover Is Already Working On ‘Atlanta’ Season Three

Made up of just eleven thirty-minute-long episodes, it feels as though Atlanta’s sophomore season went by in a flash. Worse still, there hasn’t been any official confirmation that we’ll be getting another season at FX.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t seem to be stopping Donald and Stephen Glover from working on the show’s third season.

The information doesn’t come directly from the source but from actor Zazie Beetz, who plays Van in the show. In full promo mode for Deadpool 2 (she plays mutant Domino), Beetz revealed to Digital Spy that Donald Glover has already been pitching her ideas for season three.

“There totally has been [talk],” she confirmed. “I don’t think we’ve gotten greenlit for it yet, but we talk about it amongst ourselves a lot.” She then continues:

“I’m pretty sure they have some scripts written, and there are also some ideas in a certain direction they want to go.

I know Donald has asked me what I think about this or that. I think they want to start shooting in January. But, as far as I know, we haven’t been greenlit yet. So who knows?”

Since the series began, the show’s cast has gone from strength to strength in Hollywood. While Zazie Beetz is now a part of the X-Men Cinematic Universe, Donald Glover reportedly steals the show in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, not to mention him voicing Simba in the highly anticipated Lion King remake.

Lakeith Stanfield appeared in ‘Best Picture’ winner, Get Out last year, while Bryan Tyree Henry, who recently scored a Tony nomination, is set to star alongside Oscar winners, Matthew McConaughey and Viola Davis, in White Boy Rick and Widows respectively.

Here’s hoping the busy team manages to find time to schedule in a third season of Atlanta.
