First Lady Aisha Buhari to be appointed UNAIDS Special Ambassador
Wife of the president Aisha Buhari will on Monday by appointed a special ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/ AIDS (UNAIDS).
According to Punch, this was announced in a statement released by the Communications and Global Outreach Officer of UNAIDS Nigeria, Charles-Martin Jjuuko.
Michel Sidibe, Under-Secretary of UNAIDS, will make the appointment on Monday, Jjuuko said.
Buhari’s role will be in the Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV&Promotion of Treatment for children living with HIV in Nigeria.
The appointment is said to be in recognition of Buhari’s passion in the advocacy for the rights of vulnerable women and girls in the country.
