Gov Yahaya Bello Reverses Dissolution of cabinet

Published

Barely thirty minutes after Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the 21 Local Government Administrators, the governor has allegedly rescinded his decision, asking the appointees to stay put in their respective offices.

The Kogi state Governor pardoned the dissolved appointees and charged them to return to their respective offices. He also asked them to be of higher productivity and as well relate with the masses.

The governor’s decision to sack the appointees, earlier received wide jubilation on the streets of Lokoja, as people were seen dancing ecstatically .

But while the jubilation was still being savoured, a source said the governor, who was perceived not to have consulted some powerful persons in his cabinet before the announcement, made a dramatic u-turn, asking the affected officials to return to their offices.

The wide jubilation over the earlier sack of the appointees might not be unconnected with the fact that majority of the Commissioners and Administrators were not accepted and appreciated at the grassroots.

A source said the governor didn’t want to be seen as being guided by public opinions, hence his decision.

Another source said Senator Dino Melaye, may also have contributed to why the governor changed his mind on the sack.

Melaye, a source said had joined in posting on most online platforms that the governor would dissolve his cabinet owing to leaked information leading to the interception of the military hardware allegedly procured by the governor.
