Japanese Fashion Company Accuse Kanye West Accused Of Fraud

A Japanese fashion company has accused Kanye West of using his celebrity status to defraud “hardworking” and “innocent” workers.
Fabric supplier Toki Sen-I Co. sued the rapper earlier this year, claiming his Yeezy brand owed them $624,000 for materials and work done on his exclusive sneaker line.

But the Life of Pablo hitmaker alleged the firm never delivered the materials, and has asked for the case to be dismissed.

Now, according to court documents obtained by The Blast, Toki Sen-I Co. has fired back at the rapper’s attempts to shut the lawsuit down, claiming Kanye “used his reputation and celebrity status” as a tool to deceive them into producing over $600,000 worth of fabric, which he then didn’t pay for.

The firm want the case to move forward, and have requested punitive damages to “punish the wealthy Defendants for their fraudulent and malicious behavior (sic) and to set an example to deter the Defendants and similar celebrity brands from using their status to defraud hardworking, innocent, and unexpecting vendors such as the Plaintiff.”

Toki Sen-I Co. first collaborated with Kanye in 2015, when they delivered samples for upcoming Yeezy sneakers.

They claimed things turned sour in 2018, when the rapper-turned-designer placed a large order for fleece fabric, which they began producing.

The firm also claimed Kanye’s company, Yeezy Apparel, is a “shell” and a “sham” without capital assets or member interest.

The case is ongoing.
