Kanye West Drags Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records To Court
Kanye West has reportedly triggered a legal battle against EMI Publishing and JAY-Z’s imprint Roc-a-Fella Records because he’s allegedly owed some money.
According to TMZ, Ye is taking Roc-A-Fella Records – the company once owned by Jay-Z- and EMI, the company that helped him launch his career, to court because he says he’s owed a lot of money.
It was gathered that Kanye West filed two lawsuits on Friday, where he claimed he signed an exclusive deal with Roc-A-Fella.
Although the suit is heavily redacted, he’s demanding the money he’s owed and also requesting the declaration of rights over a dispute he’s having.
Kanye had inked a deal with the publishing company shortly before he released his debut album, College Dropout.
The rapper claimed that by the end of 2011, he had written more than 200 records that were given to EMI.
Though specific tracks weren’t mentioned, the outlet reported that the records “include some of the most influential and successful songs in his catalog.”
Kanye is being represented by high-powered firm Quinn Emanuel litigator Robert Schwartz
