After bursting onto the music scene barely two years ago with his hit singles “Blessings” “Jojo,” and the viral hit “Wayo,” singer-songwriter Kendickson has cemented his place as one to watch in 2021. He continues to showcase his tremendous talent and versatility as a musician.

Born Kingsley Amu, the artist has had an inspiring journey, moving from his plan to being in the medical field to becoming a performing artist and songwriter. The Lagos based, 24-yr-old singer with an extraordinarily strong vocal prowess started his musical journey in 2011 but went professional in 2016.

Influenced by his late dad who was a broadcaster with Radio Nigeria, this Biotechnology graduate of Enugu State Science and Technology has always been a music lover and this passion has conceived great projects in his career. The complete creative embrace of that cross-genre fusion has become his strongest point, with his song “Over” offering a unique angle to his sound.
In May 2019, he released Jojo with a video shot and directed by TG Omori, a heavyweight filmmaker, with almost one million views on YouTube.

Since the release of “Jojo”, it garnered an appreciative audience and singer K has gotten the opportunity to collaborate with other artists and A-list producers, earning him a place among the fastest rising artiste of his generation. In less than five months of the release of this hit single, he received a lot of awards including the prestigious City People Music Award as the Best New Act of the Year 2019, Scream Awards among many others as the next rated superstar.

Kendickson is known for his combination of talent, depth, versatility, strength, and energy. Influenced by the likes of Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Onyeka Owenu, Chris Brown, Fela, 2Face, and Wande Coal, the artist considers his songs a mixture of afro-beat, hiplife, contemporary and “Jollof” music.

As expected, his sustained efforts in his career earned him mainstream recognition and awareness within a short time. After the success recorded in 2019 with his hit single “Jojo,” he dropped an easy-listening inspirational reggae song “Blessings” in January 2020. This single rocked with massive airplay topped charts and raked in almost half a million views on YouTube. Not resting on his oars, in 2020, released another top-notch hit single again; WAYO which is currently enjoying massive airplay in different parts especially in Nigeria and Ghana.

Kendickson is quite positive that he will stand out in Nigeria’s music industry amidst stiff competition because he is bringing himself to the table. He believes his voice and vocal texture is something that will single him out. It is not overreaching to say that he is fast becoming a global sensation as even people from the UK, Italy, Tanzania, and even Netherlands vibe to his tracks.
Currently dominating the hearts of African music lovers is the Amapiano remix of his latest smashing single “Wayo”.
