Kim Kardashian Leads Campaign To Get Thousands Of Prisoners Employed

Kim Kardashian is hoping to give thousands of former convicts a big boost by finding them work.

While studying up on Alice Marie Johnson’s clemency bid last year, the reality TV star discovered so many cases of people serving life sentences behind bars for the wrong reasons.

Her efforts landed Johnson her freedom and led to U.S. leader Donald Trump passing the First Step Act, which tackles prison reform and reviews incarcerations, and now Kardashian is hoping to team with organizations fighting for the rights of released prisoners.

“That bill got out thousands of people, so we are working on getting all of those people out now,” Kim told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Friday, “but something that I really want to focus on (is) I think there’s such a stigma on people hiring formerly incarcerated people.

“I think that without people really knowing their story and their history, about what they’ve really been through… There’s so many people that are incarcerated for life for murder that maybe they were just next to someone and they in a group of people and a fight broke out and somebody unfortunately died, but they didn’t even hit the person, didn’t even have a weapon…

“People like that deserve a second chance at life and I feel that I definitely, through all of my businesses, I would love to partner… there’s, like, a company, ARC (the Anti-Recidivism Coalition), in California that helps find people, once they get out, and give them jobs and counseling (sic). I would love to hire formally incarcerated people and I would love to spread that message that other companies… can do that too.”
