Kayode Alabi, deputy governor of Kwara state, has recovered from COVID-19 after three weeks of being in isolation centre.

Alabi, who is also the chairman of the Kwara COVID-19 technical team, and his wife tested positive for the virus on August 3 and had since been in isolation.

The deputy governor disclosed the news of his recovery in a post on Twitter on Friday stated;

It is with great joy that I announce to you that I have tested negative to the deadly coronavirus. I want to use this medium to appreciate God, the author and finisher of my faith, and also to thank everyone who showed concern during the trying time.

The Deputy Governor added;

I wish to restate that covid19 is real and must not be taken for granted! Let us all come together and fight this common enemy of man to a halt.

In July, some aides to the deputy governor had tested positive for the virus.

The deputy governor stated his aides were receiving treatment in the state Isolation Centre at Sobi Specialist Hospital in Ilorin.

He also noted that the state government is determined to flatten the curve of COVID-19 in the state and curb community transmission.

As at Friday morning, the state recorded 956 cases of COVID-19, with 773 recoveries and 25 deaths.
