Leonardo DiCaprio & Brad Pitt To Star In New Movie

Quentin Tarantino’s ninth movie, which we now know to be titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has been creating buzz for a while now. Not only because it’s rumored to be the filmmaker’s penultimate movie but also for its harrowing subject matter. Today, it’s the film’s cast that has got Tarantino fans talking.

While Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Tom Cruise and more had already been rumored to star, nothing was set in stone. But today, it has been announced that Brad Pitt will officially be joining the feature, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio

The news comes from Collider which also gives us an updated synopsis for the movie, straight from the horses mouth. As the publication reports:

“Tarantino describes it as ‘a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.'”

As a reminder, the movie will be a true-story feature based around the horrific murders carried out by Charles Manson’s cult of followers at the end of the 1960s and start of the 1970s. It was announced back in July that one of the central plot lines of the movie would deal with Sharon Tate, Roman Polanski’s wife, who was killed by one of Manson’s ‘disciples’ while eight months pregnant.

DiCaprio already worked with Tarantino in Django Unchained, while Pitt featured in Inglourious Basterds. With a while to go until filming kicks off, we’re guessing the cast is only going to get better from here. Speaking in a statement about the decision, the legendary director said:

“I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is expected to release on August 9 2019.
