Luis Suarez Quit Adidas As He Sign Boots Deal With Puma Worth One Million Pounds A Year

Luis Suarez has announced he is switching from Adidas to Puma as his sportswear sponsor via an animated video posted online.

The Barcelona striker had previously worn the boots of Adidas for a decade, but has made the switch to the sportswear giant’s German rivals in a deal worth £1million a year.

He joins a number of other big names as a Puma client, including Uruguay team mate Diego Godin, as well as Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku.

Puma also boast French World Cup winning players Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud among their clients.

He is the only major Barcelona player to be sponsored by Puma, while the Catalan club’s kit continues to be sponsored by Nike, although Puma design the Uruguayan national team kit.

Suarez’s talks with Adidas had stalled, and he played in blacked out boots in friendlies over the summer, indicating a problem with his previous sponsors.

The announcement was made on Suarez’s official Twitter page in unusual fashion, with Suarez depicted in cartoon form in the Wild West, entering a saloon bar full of other star players.

It was accompanied by the message: ‘Forget the past. Be the FUTURE! I’m very excited to announce and join the Puma football family.’
