Man City break 3 Premier League records with last-gasp winner against Southampton

Manchester City this afternoon broke a trio of historic Premier League records, after netting a last-gasp winner during their final league outing of the season versus Southampton.

The two sides went head to head at St. Mary’s this afternoon, with Mark Hughes’ hosts aware that only a monumental goal swing between they and Swansea City would see the Saints relegated to the Championship.

Manchester City, meanwhile, had long wrapped up the Premier League title, with the Citizens having had just the Premier League points record to play for.

A hard-fought affair at St. Mary’s this afternoon eventually saw proceedings look as though they were set to end in a stalemate, as the clock entered the final minutes of injury-time with the score at 0-0.

However, in typical Manchester City fashion, the Citizens incredibly managed to pull out a last-gasp winner, when a perfectly-weighted long ball from Kevin De Bruyne was wonderfully controlled and subsequently lobbed home over the onrushing Alex McCarthy by Gabriel Jesus.

In finding the net, Jesus allowed Pep Guardiola’s City to etch their names even further into the history books of the Premier League, sealing a trio of records as the Sky Blues emerged with yet another 3 points

Below is a complete breakdown of the Premier league records broken by Manchester City this season, a testament to just how truly dominant the Citizens have been in the English-flight top-flight over the last 9 months.
