Mikel Obi’s Team Tianjin TEDA Escapes Relegation

John Obi Mikel’s Tianjin TEDA defeated Beijing Guona 2-0, to escape relegation from the Chinese Super League.

Mbaye Diagne scored twice at the Tianjin Olympic Centre Stadium, to inspire Uli Stielike’s men to victory.

The win sees TEDA remain in the CSL, after Yanbian lost 2-1 at home to Henan Jianye.

It is a narrow escape for the Tigers, who looked destined for the drop at the beginning of June, after a run of 10 losses in 13 matches.

However, they bounced back, winning four games in a row and have now secured their place in the topflight with two fixtures left.
