Nigeria Hosts The First African High Heel Race
Walking in heels is stressful enough, so imagine running in them. There’s the risk of breaking the heel, or even worse, an ankle. But damn these concerns, because people compete in high heel races across the world, and Nigeria is the first country in Africa to host the competition.
Called the 4-Inch High Heel Race Competition, the second edition took place a few days ago in Surulere, Lagos. As the name suggests, it features girls between the ages of 18 to 28 running for 100 metres wearing four-inch stiletto shoes.
DAK Marketing Services Limited, which organizes the competition, says it’s about fun and entertainment. The company also wants to use the event to inspire confidence in women when they wear heels.
According to Complete Sports, 80 contestants took part in the interesting competition, and we have a feeling that it’s only going to get bigger in the future, as the company has plans of spreading it to other states and other African countries.
