Nigeria Qualifies For AFCON 2019 After 1-1 Draw With South Africa



The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the AFCON 2018 after a one all draw with South Africa in Johannesburg. The Super Eagles travelled for the game as group leaders with nine points, with the Bafana Bafana second with eight.

An own goal gave Nigeria the lead in the eighth minute but the South Africans responded with a goal in the first half to level.

There was no goal in the second half as the Super Eagles managed to get a point which sealed their qualification to AFCON 2019.

Now with 10 points, the Super Eagles are sure of a top-two finish in Group E of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

Despite knowing that draw will see them through to Cameroon 2019, the Super Eagles didn’t start the game on the backfoot.

There were no goals in the second half.

In the other game, Libya mauled Seychelles 8-1.

Nigeria host Seychelles in their last fixture of the qualifying series.
