Nigerian Lawmaker/Imam Advises Nigerian Men To Marry More Than One Wife

He’s not what most women might describe as a “good catch.”
Alhassan Alolo Yussuf Bawa, A Nigerian Lawmaker and Imam from a small town in Sokoto State Nigeria describe marrying more than one wife as a ‘Grace of Allah’. He Says If he is a good man, an honest man, and caring, if the Women are happy with the unconventional arrangement” then He should be allowed to.

While many argue that such statements are heresy, Alhassan Alolo Yussuf Bawa while addressing the congregation in Salat on Friday
argues under accepted Muslim doctrine, The Holy Quran, the Hadith, which are the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Sunnah, no mortal can speak directly with God and men are allowed a maximum of four wives at any one time.

‘Maybe not enough people know that when it comes to the question of the consent of a female to marriage, the Quran says, “Don’t prevent them from marrying their husbands when they agree between themselves in a lawful manner.” (Q2:32) ‘

He Says, Muslim women in Nigeria need marriage contracts the same way Muslim sisters in Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other Muslim countries do. If you look at the Quranic injunction, precisely surat ul Nisai, it spells out all about marriage and how to go about it in Islam.
I do not think regulation of polygamy is possible because, on a religious basis, Islam permits men to marry more than one wife.
They are allowed to marry up to four wives. If they want to regulate polygamy, that means they would bring their own law. I do not think that the Muslim folk will agree to that kind of regulation.

Muslims have the right to marry more than one wife.  However, you are not supposed to have children who will become a nuisance to society.

You are to bring up pious and responsible children. It is a thing of the mind and every Nigerian must be free to exercise their right.’ Alhassan Alolo Yussuf Bawa Says
