Erstwhile Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku has shed light on his shortlived Manchester United career, the Belgian joined the Red Devils in 2017 from Everton, scoring 28 goals in 66 appearances but failed to live up to the supposed expectation of some fans of the club thereby making him call time on his time at Manchester.

Speaking on a podcast interview released on Wednesday, the Inter-Milan forward expressed dissatisfaction at how the Manchester club handled his transfer rumors without showing him “respect” while also stating that he was picked out as a scapegoat alongside Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez whenever the team under-performs.

“A lot of things has been said where I didn’t feel protected, I felt like a lot of rumors, ‘Romelu going there’, ‘They don’t want Romelu’, and nobody(from United) came out to shut it down.

“It was for a good three, four weeks. I’m waiting for someone to come out and shut it down. It never happened. Lukaku recounted.

The striker who moved to Inter-Milan earlier this month after refusing to return for United’s preseason preparation, training with his boyhood club (Anderlecht) instead insisted he informed the club about the situation before he made such decision.

“I had my conversation with the club, told them it was better to go our separate ways. If you don’t want to protect somebody, all these rumors come out. I just wanted you to say, ‘Rom will fight for his place’, but it never happened for four, five months.”

“They have to find somebody to blame, It is either Pogba, I or it is Alexis. It’s the three of us all the time. For me, I just see it in many ways.” Lukaku
