Police To Pay N100m Ransom To Bandits Who Kidnaped Six ASPs



An officer of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly sustained a gunshot wound on his leg after their vehicle was attacked by suspected bandits in Katsina State.

The bandits had demanded a sum of N100m ransom so as to release other officers who were kidnapped while travelling along the Dogondaji area of the state.

It was reported that bandits had abducted eight Assistant Superintendents of the police force in the last week. While trying to escape the banditry attack, one of the fleeing officers was shot in his legs.

Naija News understands that the ASPs were recently promoted to their current rank. They were attached to the Mobile Police Squadron 6, Maiduguri, Borno State.

Findings revealed that the police officers were waylaid while heading to Zamfara State Police Command on transfer following their demobilization from Borno. Punch reports that the officer who was shot on the leg found himself at a village and that the villagers took him to a police station and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

As at the time this report was given, the other six officers are still with the bandits who are demanding N100m ransom, Naija News understands.

Meanwhile, the families of the missing police officers have expressed fear over the incident. The families are said to be attempting to raise N3m for the release of their breadwinners or N500,000 each.

In another news, the residence of the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has been attacked by gunmen.
