South Africa vs Libya: Draw In Durban Helps South Africa Top Group E



Libya forced a 0-0 draw with South Africa in Durban on Saturday to remain Group E leader in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition.

Both sides came into the encounter with victories in their opening encounter of the group.

South Africa defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2-0 away from home while Libya beat Seychelles 5-1 in front of their home supporters.

The Libyans with the better chances at goal, but could not convert and both sides went into the half time break goalless.

The second half started at the same pace, with Libya dominating possession and dictating the place, while South Africa aimed to catch their visitors on the

counter attack.

The game ended in a goalless draw despite a late attempt from South Africa to snatch he winner.

But with two of the six qualifying rounds completed, Libya lead with four points, South Africa also have four points but with a lower goal difference while

Nigeria have three and the Seychelles are pointless.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are third with three points while Seychelles are yet to pick up their first points of the campaign after two losses.

Libya face Nigeria twice between October 8 and 16 while South Africa host and visit the Seychelles at the same time.
