UEFA Champions League: Messi breaks Buffon jinx; Manchester United, Chelsea win
Lionel Messi finally scored a goal past Gianluigi Buffon, as Barcelona outclassed Juventus 3-0 at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Messi opened the scoring almost on the stroke of half time, after exchanging passes with Luis Suarez. The Argentine’s mazy run helped to set up the second goal after the break, which Ivan Rakitic converted.
Manchester United defeated Basle 3-0 at Old Trafford, with Marcus Rashford again netting on his debut.
Sporting Lisbon secured a 3-2 win away to Olympiakos, Chelsea thrashed Qrarabag 6-0 and CSKA Moscow came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Benfica.
Paris Saint-Germain hammered Celtic 5-0, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Belgian champions Anderlecht and there were no goals between Roma and Atletico Madrid.
