Lionel Messi was in typically brilliant fashion as Barcelona battered Juventus 3-0 in their Champions League group stage opener.
The Argentine international broke the deadlock moments before half time as the Catalan giants set about confidently beating the team who knocked them out last season’s competition.
Ivan Rakitic doubled Barcelona’s advantage after the break before Messi put the game to bed with twenty minutes to spare.Question marks were raised ahead of Barcelona’s 2017/18 campaign after they parted company with £199million forward Neymar in the summer. But they were dominant throughout their convincing Group D win.
