Nollywood veteran and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has confidently declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised to unseat the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration and form Nigeria’s next government in 2027. Okonkwo, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise program, stated that the party is currently building a formidable national structure under its new leadership.
Dismissing the ADC’s poor showing in the recent August 16 by-elections, where it failed to secure any of the 16 contested seats, Okonkwo maintained that the results were not a true reflection of the party’s strength. He clarified that the party’s new leadership, headed by former Senate President David Mark, should not be held accountable for contests where the primaries were concluded before they assumed office.
“The true test of ADC will be in 2027,” Okonkwo asserted, predicting an outright victory for the party. He also confirmed that the ADC has established a presence in all 36 states of the federation and identified former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the party’s leader in Rivers State.
