In a groundbreaking development for women’s healthcare in Nigeria and West Africa, the
first-ever robotic-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy surgery using the Microport Toumai MT-1000 surgical robot was successfully performed at Nisa Premier Hospital in Abuja.

The patient, a young woman who had been suffering from symptomatic uterine fibroids, underwent the surgery following ultrasound confirmation of the diagnosis.

The operation was led by Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi, a UK Cambridge fellowship trained gynecologist with advanced training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and a faculty member of the Robomed Academy.
