Sevilla built on their recent momentum with a convincing 3-1 victory over 10-man Athletic Club in LaLiga, powered by an outstanding performance from Oso, who recorded both a goal and an assist to secure the Andalusians’ first win at San Mamés in four visits.

Athletic Club threatened early in Edin Terzić’s debut as manager, forcing Odysseas Vlachodimos into quick saves from Beñat Prados and Iñaki Williams. However, the momentum swung drastically when Yuri Berchiche received a red card for bringing down Miguel Sierra just outside the penalty area.

Sevilla capitalized almost immediately. Capitalizing on a defensive mix-up, Oso slotted into an unguarded net to open the scoring. Despite being down a man, Athletic produced chances before the break through Oihan Sancet and Williams, but Vlachodimos held firm to preserve Sevilla’s first half-time lead in 18 LaLiga away matches.

Sevilla manager Luis García introduced three substitutes at halftime, and the changes paid off quickly. Isaac Romero set up Chidera Ejuke, who cut into the box and delicately chipped Unai Simón to double the advantage. Moments later, Jesús Areso was dispossessed by Oso, who laid the ball off for Romero to finish into the far corner for Sevilla’s third.

Aitor Paredes pulled one back for Athletic from a corner to score a late consolation goal, but the damage was already done. The result leaves Terzić with significant defensive issues ahead of a daunting trip to face Barcelona, while Sevilla briefly take their place at the top of the LaLiga standings.
