Reigning Miss World Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has won the coveted Top Model for Africa title at the ongoing 75th Anniversary Miss World Festival in Vietnam. The victory automatically guarantees her a place in the Top 40 quarterfinals of the global competition.
Karibi-George claimed the continental title during the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, held under the theme “Soul of Heritage.” She outperformed fellow African continental finalists representing Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa to secure her place in the next round.
Joining the Continental Elite
With her victory, Karibi-George stands alongside the other regional Top Model winners:
Africa: Nigeria (Tamunosoye Karibi-George)
Americas & Caribbean: Dominican Republic
Europe: France
Asia & Oceania: Vietnam
All four continental winners have earned direct passage into the Top 40 quarterfinals. The Miss World Organisation confirmed that one overall Top Model winner will be selected from the four continental champions, earning an automatic ticket straight into the Top 20.
The remaining spots in the Top 40 will be divided equally across the four continental zones and determined through fast-track events, including the Head to Head Challenge, Beauty With a Purpose, Multimedia, and the People’s Choice vote.
Strong Campaign in Vietnam
Karibi-George’s Top Model win extends a remarkable run at the international festival, which kicked off on August 9 and leads up to the grand finale on September 5.
Earlier in the pageant, the Nigerian representative advanced to the African final round of the Head to Head Challenge, where South Africa’s Romanda Hombir ultimately claimed the continental fast-track spot. Karibi-George also sparked wide acclaim online during the talent presentation, where a video showcasing her vocal performance drew praise from fans across Nigeria.
A Legacy of Excellence and Advocacy
Crowned Miss World Nigeria on June 6 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, the 26-year-old communications professional from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, emerged victorious from a field of 20 national contestants. An associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, she previously held the Miss Africa International 2024 title.
Beyond the runway, Karibi-George continues to promote her community initiative, Beyond Labels, which advocates for the inclusion, dignity, and empowerment of children living with disabilities and special needs.
