A former beauty queen who had been declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Aderinoye Queen Christmas, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, has voluntarily surrendered to the Lagos State Command after evading capture for approximately eight months.

According to NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on September 1, Aderinoye, who had been in hiding since a January 2024 raid connected her to drug activities, turned herself in on August 28, 2024.

Aderinoye, who previously held the title of Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and is the founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, had reportedly been hiding in Akure, Ondo State since escaping the initial raid.

During the raid at her home, NDLEA operatives, in the presence of estate representatives, discovered 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a potent strain of synthetic cannabis), an electronic weighing scale, significant quantities of drug packaging materials, and a black RAV 4 SUV with Lagos license plates, among other items.

In related operations, NDLEA agents seized 1,122 kilograms of cannabis from a suspect named Mustapha Ibrahim along Orchid Road in Ajah, Lagos State, on Monday, August 26.

An additional 816 kilograms of cannabis, belonging to another suspect who remains at large, was also recovered from the same location.

Commenting on the successful operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the agency’s officers for their diligence and commitment.

He acknowledged their efforts in combating drug-related crimes and emphasized the importance of both drug demand reduction and drug supply reduction strategies in the agency’s ongoing mission.
