Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL). A video emerged online on Monday appearing to show Coote making disparaging remarks about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The PGMOL issued a statement saying it had suspended referee Coote pending a full investigation into the incident.

A video, which remains unverified, appearing to show Coote making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp was widely circulated on social media on Monday.
Coote “vehemently denies inappropriate conduct and has been insistent to referee chiefs PGMOL that viral video in which he appears is not genuine”, according to a post by Mirror journalist Darren Lewis on social media platform X.
A PGMOL statement read: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation.
“PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
Coote was the referee for Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night.
