Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-0 victory over St. Pauli at Millerntor-Stadion, showcasing their attacking prowess in the second half and achieving back-to-back Bundesliga wins for the first time this season. The win marks Dortmund’s first away league victory under Niko Kovac.

Pascal Gross, fresh from a four-assist performance in Dortmund’s previous 6-0 win over Union Berlin, continued to display his creative ability, providing a sublime pass to Karim Adeyemi in the first half. However, Adeyemi’s header lacked power, failing to trouble the St. Pauli goalkeeper.

St. Pauli, desperate to break their streak of 14 consecutive league losses when conceding first, had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Hauke Wahl headed a whipped free-kick wide of the target. Despite their efforts, it was Dortmund who struck first in the second half. Serhou Guirassy, who scored four goals in the previous match, demonstrated his predatory instincts by tapping home a low cross from Adeyemi.

Adeyemi then produced a moment of individual brilliance, outmuscling a defender and wrong-footing another before slotting a right-footed shot past Nikola Vasilj, doubling Dortmund’s advantage. Guirassy had a later goal disallowed for offside, but Dortmund comfortably saw out the remainder of the match.

The victory moves Dortmund to within six points of the top four, while St. Pauli’s struggles continue, with their fourth consecutive defeat leaving them in 15th place. This result marks a significant step forward for Dortmund, signaling their improved form and ambition to climb the Bundesliga table.
