The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the appointment of Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame as its new Director of Public Relations and Information. This means he’ll be the new voice and face of the Air Force, responsible for communicating its activities to the public.
Air Commodore Ejodame takes over from Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, who is moving to Defence Headquarters to take on the role of Director of Civil-Military Relations.
Ejodame is no stranger to important roles within the Air Force. He’s been around the block, with a solid background in things like logistics, planning, and managing defense. He graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as part of the 45th Regular Course.
He’s also got a lot of academic credentials, including:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics
- A PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield in the UK.
He’s attended logistics training at the United Nations International Peace Support Operations Centre in Kenya and learned about supply chain optimization in Portugal.
His training also includes stints at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji and the Air Force War College in Makurdi, where he even earned the title of Best Graduating Participant. He’s also received top awards from the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Air Staff at the National Defence College in Abuja.
Before this new appointment, Ejodame held several key positions. He’s been a teacher, or “Directing Staff,” at both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji and the National Defence College in Abuja. He was also the first Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna and served as the Director of Procurement at AFIT.
He’s also represented Nigeria on the international stage, serving as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser at the Nigerian High Commission in Malaysia, where he was also responsible for defense relationships with nine other countries in the region.
Ejodame is also a member of many professional organizations, demonstrating his broad expertise.
His appointment as the Nigerian Air Force’s spokesperson means he’s bringing a wealth of experience to the job. The Air Force hopes his expertise will help strengthen its public relations and make its communication with the public even more effective.
