Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has revealed that his Brazilian winger Raphinha was upset following his substitution during their La Liga match against Real Betis on Saturday night, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The result meant Barcelona failed to fully capitalize on Real Madrid’s earlier defeat to Valencia.

Raphinha visibly showed his frustration after being taken off the pitch in the 57th minute of the game, which saw Gavi initially put Barcelona ahead before Natan quickly equalized for Betis. After the final whistle at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, Raphinha was seen approaching the match officials with clear dissatisfaction. In a moment captured by cameras, he also had a brief exchange with his manager, Hansi Flick, highlighting his passionate reaction to the substitution.

Despite teammate and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s attempt to console the winger with an arm around his shoulder, Raphinha appeared to shrug off the gesture and headed straight down the tunnel, visibly displeased.

Speaking after the match, Flick addressed the situation, clarifying that Raphinha’s anger was directed at him, not the referee. “He was angry with me, not with the referee; he was expressing his feelings,” Flick explained during the post-match interview.

Raphinha has been a key player for Barcelona this season, showcasing his talent with an impressive tally of 24 goals and 13 assists across all competitions. He will undoubtedly be looking to channel this passion into their upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, as Barcelona aim to regain momentum after the disappointing draw.

Despite the setback, Barcelona still maintain their position at the top of the La Liga table, holding a four-point lead over rivals Real Madrid as they head into the crucial next phase of their campaign.
