Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers remains confident that his team possesses the quality required to overcome their 3-1 deficit from the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Rogers had given Villa an early lead in the 35th minute during Wednesday’s match in Paris. However, the Ligue 1 champions responded with goals from Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nuno Mendes, establishing a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg in Birmingham.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Rogers acknowledged the difficulty of defending for extended periods against a high-quality PSG side. “It’s difficult when you have to defend so much and battle. We did but in the end it was the quality from them and maybe some mistakes from us,” he said.
Despite the setback, Rogers expressed unwavering belief in his team’s ability to turn the tie around at Villa Park. “We�ve got to just keep going for it and keep believing that we can do it … we�ve definitely got the quality to turn it around so it’s not done yet.”
Rogers emphasized Aston Villa’s strong home form, highlighting their unbeaten run at Villa Park since a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace in the League Cup last October. “Now we�re going back at home and that’s where we know our best form is and the way we play is better probably at home this season,” he added, suggesting that PSG will face a significant challenge in Birmingham.
