Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Tinubu of failing to take governance seriously, particularly in addressing the escalating insecurity in Plateau and Benue States.

Adebayo, speaking at his wife’s 50th birthday celebration in Abuja, expressed his surprise at the shock expressed by many Nigerians regarding the Tinubu administration’s handling of the security situation. He stated, “What shocked me about Nigerians is that they are shocked about President Tinubu. Because we knew that these people don’t take governance seriously. They take elections seriously but not governance. The first duty of the president and the commander in chief is national security.”

Adebayo urged Nigerians to “rise against the opposition and take back the country from bad leaders,” and called on President Tinubu to “re-strategize the country’s security architecture” to effectively combat the pervasive insecurity.

Also present at the event, the Lagos State Chairman of the SDP, Hon. Femi Olaniyi Ferrari, emphasized the party’s role in providing an alternative for Nigerians seeking solutions to the nation’s challenges. “We can all understand what Nigerians are going through. We asked for change, but the change has shortchanged us,” Ferrari stated.
