Kylian Mbappe, the captain of the French national team, has escalated his dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain, filing a legal complaint accusing them of “moral harassment.” The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Thursday that an investigation has been opened into the matter, as reported by AFP.

This latest development adds another layer to the ongoing legal battle between the superstar forward and his former employer. Mbappe is already engaged in a court case with PSG over an alleged €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses that he claims are owed to him.

The “moral harassment” complaint specifically pertains to Mbappe’s treatment at the beginning of the 2023/24 season. During that period, the 26-year-old was notably made to train with players the club was actively trying to offload. Mbappe believes this sidelining was a direct consequence of his refusal to agree to a new contract, a practice that has previously drawn criticism and prompted a complaint from the French players’ union last year.

As part of the alleged mistreatment, Mbappe was not included in PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and also missed the opening game of that season. He was, however, later reinstated to the team following discussions with the club.

Mbappe departed PSG last summer after a seven-season tenure, joining Spanish giants Real Madrid. During his time in the French capital, he amassed an impressive 256 goals in 308 appearances. Ironically, PSG secured their first-ever Champions League title last month, shortly after the prolific striker’s departure.
