SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, has officially resumed activations for new customers across Nigeria. The company announced this development in an email on Saturday, signaling a return to full operation after a temporary pause.

According to the firm, high-demand areas such as Lagos and Abuja are at the forefront of this revival, indicating a strategic focus on key urban centers as activations roll out nationwide.

“The internet service provider has officially resumed activations for customers nationwide, with Lagos, Abuja, and other high-demand regions at the forefront of this exciting revival,” the company stated in its communication.

This resumption follows a period between October and November of last year when Starlink temporarily halted activations for new customers, citing the need for regulatory approvals. The pause had caused some concern among prospective users and existing subscribers.

The previous halt also coincided with a period in October 2024 when the internet company, which reportedly boasts over 60,000 subscribers in Nigeria, arbitrarily increased its subscription prices without obtaining prior approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The resumption of activations suggests that any outstanding regulatory issues may have been addressed, paving the way for Starlink to expand its services further across the country.
