The Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of being “very vicious” and actively working to undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

In an interview with Daily Post, Tanko reportedly stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is engaging in “total criminality against the masses” while labeling opposition politicians as criminals. He warned that the opposition should prepare for more attacks from the government.

“This particular government is very vicious, and I want to prepare the minds of some of us in the opposition, at least one out of so many things that will be [unleashed] on the opposition,” Tanko was quoted as saying. He added that the administration’s actions are “totally undemocratic” and that they are “out to destroy democracy.”

Tanko further alleged that the administration is undermining the Nigerian constitution and the United Nations Charter by suppressing the voice and rights of the people. He called this move “unacceptable” and vowed that the opposition would continue to resist and “speak truth to power.”

He appealed to the international community to take notice and intervene “before things just reach an uncontrolled level.” Tanko also criticized what he called “selective justice,” referencing a recent case involving a lady who was thrown out of an airline versus another person who stood in front of an aircraft without facing similar consequences.

While maintaining that the opposition would not shield wrongdoers within its own ranks, he demanded fairness and equity for all citizens.
