Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United for a fee of £40 million. The 21-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Blues, becoming their ninth summer acquisition.

Garnacho expressed his excitement about the move on the club’s website, stating, “It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started.” He added that joining the “world champions” felt special, cementing his belief that Chelsea is the best team in the world.

A regular for Manchester United over the past two seasons, Garnacho made 93 Premier League appearances, scoring 16 goals. His stunning bicycle kick against Everton won the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award, a highlight of his impressive young career.

The transfer is the fourth-largest sale in Manchester United’s history, following Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, and Angel Di Maria. Notably, it is the largest ever sale of an academy graduate for the club. Garnacho, who has signed a contract until 2032, was seen at Stamford Bridge earlier on Saturday during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham.
