Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Asensio has completed a permanent move to Turkish club Fenerbahce on transfer Deadline Day, with both clubs officially announcing the deal on Monday. The Spanish midfielder has signed a “3+1 year contract” with the Turkish giants, though the financial details of the transfer have not been officially disclosed.

Fenerbahce’s social media announcement stated, “Our club has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the permanent transfer of Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio.” The move marks an end to Asensio’s short stint with PSG, where he struggled to secure a regular place in coach Luis Enrique’s starting lineup despite arriving from Real Madrid in 2023.

The 29-year-old boasts an impressive list of accolades from his time at Real Madrid, including three Champions League titles and three La Liga championships. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he showed glimpses of his quality, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances across all competitions. A Spanish international with 38 caps and two goals, Asensio was last called up to the national squad in 2023.

His arrival in Istanbul comes at a crucial time for Fenerbahce, who recently parted ways with coach Jose Mourinho after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League in late August. According to reports from Turkish media, the club is also on the verge of completing another high-profile transfer, with Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Manchester City expected to be officially announced in the coming hours.
