Carlos Alcaraz has continued his flawless run at the US Open, cruising into the semi-finals with a dominant 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win over Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday. The Spaniard’s victory marks his progression to the final four without dropping a single set in the tournament, underlining his quest for a sixth Grand Slam title.

The 22-year-old, who captured his first major title in New York as a teenager back in 2022, is now just two wins away from reclaiming the world number one ranking from Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz acknowledged the pressure of the situation but stated his focus remains on the game. “It’s really difficult not to think about it,” he said. “Every time I step onto the court I try not to think about it. If I think about the number one spot too much, I think I’m going to put pressure on myself and I don’t want to do that.”

Alcaraz’s routine during his time off has been just as consistent as his on-court performance. The star revealed he has been playing golf in his two days off before the semi-final, even squeezing in a round with former Masters champion Sergio Garcia. “It’s something that’s working well so why should I change that routine,” Alcaraz explained. “Every day off I go and try to play some golf.”

Alcaraz is now set to face the winner of the highly anticipated quarter-final match between 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and last year’s runner-up Taylor Fritz on Friday for a spot in the final.
