In a swift turn of events, former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly on the verge of being appointed as the new head coach of Nottingham Forest. The news comes after the club parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo late last night.
According to reliable reports from journalist David Ornstien, the Australian coach is expected to be announced imminently. Postecoglou’s new role comes just three months after he was surprisingly sacked by Tottenham on June 7, despite having guided the team to a Europa League final victory and securing a place in this season’s Champions League. His successor at Spurs was Thomas Frank from Brentford.
Last season, Postecoglou’s Tottenham side struggled with injuries and inconsistent performances in the league, finishing in a disappointing 17th place.
If his appointment is confirmed, Postecoglou’s first game as Forest boss will be a challenging away trip to Arsenal on Saturday, September 13. He will then prepare the team for their Europa League campaign, which begins later this month against Real Betis.
