BNXN (formerly known as Buju) has dropped his long-awaited second studio album, “Captain”, and it’s everything fans hoped for and more introspective, melodically rich, and confidently experimental. Released in July 2025 under T.Y.E / EMPIRE, Captain marks a defining chapter in BNXN’s journey as a front-running voice in Afro-fusion.
Following the success of Sincerely, Benson, which introduced a more vulnerable and evolved side of the artist, Captain builds on that with a bolder tone. The album spans 16 tracks, and BNXN blends Afrobeats, R&B, gospel, drill, and his signature smooth vocals.
Standout collaborations include “Cough Syrup”, featuring Victony, a soulful lament about overcoming pressure and rising above naysayers. Then there’s the breezy yet vulnerable “Fi Ka We Ka” with Rema, where the two Afropop stars trade verses over a hypnotic beat. Their chemistry is undeniable.
Other artists on the project include Seyi Vibez, FOLA, Taves, Kizz Daniel, and the legendary Soweto Gospel Choir, who deliver a powerful close on the final track, “In Jesus’ Name.” It brings a spiritual layer to the album that grounds BNXN’s journey in faith.
Top producers handle the Captain’s album production, including Kel‑P, Vampire Craze, Sarz, Magicsticks, JAE5, ATG, and Pheelz. This lineup ensures the album never sounds flat: it’s textured, rich, and very much in tune with BNXN’s melodic strength. In all, Captain is a solid sophomore album, deeply personal, confident in craft, and tuned into the current Afrobeats wave without losing BNXN’s identity.
Captain is now streaming on all major platforms.
