In a significant development for Nigeria�s public communication landscape, Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the Body of Advisers for the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG). The announcement was made during the ongoing 2025 Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The NPRW, organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), is an annual gathering that brings together communication professionals, government officials, and other key stakeholders to explore the role of effective communication in national development. This year�s event commenced on May 19 and is set to conclude on May 23.

CGC Adeniyi�s appointment underscores the Nigeria Customs Service�s (NCS) growing influence in the realm of public communication. In his acceptance speech, Adeniyi expressed his commitment to the NRMG�s mission, stating, �I consider it a privilege to be part of this important national assignment. I have full trust in the capacity of this group, and I believe that with the calibre of individuals involved, a lot can be achieved in reshaping how Nigeria tells her story to her people and the world.�

Joining Adeniyi in the advisory body is John Momoh, Chairman of Channels Television, who has been installed as the Chair of the NRMG Body of Advisers. Together, they are expected to guide the NRMG in its mission to project a coherent, credible, and consistent image of Nigeria both domestically and internationally.

The Nigeria Reputation Management Group aims to enhance the country�s image by promoting transparency, stakeholder engagement, and institutional trust. The inclusion of high-profile figures like CGC Adeniyi and John Momoh in its advisory body reflects the group�s commitment to leveraging experienced leadership in achieving its objectives.

The appointment of CGC Adeniyi as Vice Chair of the NRMG Body of Advisers marks a significant step in Nigeria�s efforts to strengthen its national image through strategic communication.
