Highest 2 Lowest is an upcoming neo-noir crime drama directed by Spike Lee, starring Denzel Washington as a powerful New York music mogul whose life unravels when his child is kidnapped. The film is a modern reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low and explores themes of morality and fame. A$AP Rocky co-stars as an ambitious young artist, and the cast includes Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Ice Spice.
The movie premieres at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival (May 19), hits theaters via A24 on August 22, and streams on Apple TV+ starting September 5. This marks Lee and Washington’s fifth collaboration and promises a gritty, stylish, and emotionally charged story set in New York’s music scene.
