Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, former Governor of Oyo State, has passed away at the age of 89�just days shy of his 90th birthday. His family announced his passing in a statement released on Sunday, expressing deep gratitude to the Almighty and acknowledging his remarkable service to the nation and to humanity.

Dr. Olunloyo was a distinguished technocrat, accomplished mathematician, and engineer who held several prominent positions throughout his illustrious career. Notably, he served as:

  • The first Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan

  • The first Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic

  • The Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife�traditional titles that reflect his respected status within the Yoruba community

He also served as the Governor of Oyo State from October 1, 1983, to December 31, 1983.

Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Olunloyo made significant contributions to national development. His dedication to public service, education, and community upliftment earned him admiration across various sectors. His legacy remains a source of pride for his family, peers, and all those whose lives he impacted.

As the Olunloyo family begins preparations for a dignified farewell, they have requested understanding and support from the public during this time of mourning.
