Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka has left the Premier League club Brentford for the German Bundesliga club Augsburg.
Frank Onyeka, who couldn’t play consistently for Brentford last season, is expected to remain at Augsburg on a season-long loan.

Since the 26-year-old Nigerian midfielder’s arrival to Brentford from Midtjylland in July 2021, Onyeka has made a significant impact, appearing in 78 matches for the Bees.

While he was the club’s first signing following their promotion to the Premier League, Onyeka was reportedly frustrated over his role as a fringe player in west London.

Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, confirmed that Onyeka’s desire to be a regular starter led to this move and commended his contributions to the team’s success.

The coach said, “Frank wants to play week in, week out as a starter; this is a good opportunity for him to do that.

“He has been a big part of our success, and I can’t praise him enough for that in every aspect.”

Note that Frank Onyeka has been invited to be part of the Super Eagles of Nigeria squad that will take on Benin Republic and Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September 2024.

Onyeka and the rest of his national teammates are expected to assemble in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital from September 2.
